    Nano-ing like mad :)
Well the novel is moving along, I'm staying on my personal goal of 2k per day. I lost a good chunk on Friday and Saturday, between working around the house and a couple of fairly long fire calls, but Saturday night into Sunday morning, for some reason, I just really cranked it out, and then again Sunday evening, whoo hoo, just rolled along.

For some odd reason, Glenn morphed into a Mark, but that's ok, he seems like a good guy, very considerate, and just enough insecurity to be real, without being a total jerk. Pam likes him, so that's cool. (Pam is the MC, she was married to Dale, but he died in the first page. Oh well, she's moving on ok.)

I'm not going to get this updated as much as I might, after November, but who knows? After November, I may never touch it again. I'll see.

    Short Update
2888 on day one, not a bad start. I'm very impressed by some of the wordcounts that the users of Griam's active desktop are posting, 4000+ in a couple of cases.

Too bad for Pam, that Dale died so early, but he was boring me already and that was in the first three paragraphs. Sanctimonious, pontificating, yeeesh. I don't have a lot of sympathy for him, Glenn will be popping in next, and as they get to know one another I'm really hoping he's a better person than that.

On the other hand, I already like Pam, she's cool, so that's good.

    G'night, happy noveling!

    Here we go.. :)
So, it officially began at 12:00 this morning. As did I. Started word at 11:57, poised, waiting, ready:

    -Coffee?
    CHECK
    -Candy?
    CHECK
    Dogs ok?
    CHECK
    Playlist?
    CHECK
    Plot?
    Umm, what?
    Characters?
Uh, perhaps they ran off with the plot??

Works anyway, I had a mental picture of the MC, and at least a rudimentary idea of what was happening, and where it was going, so I put together 2019 words so far- and it's still the first, so after work I can (hopefully) add some more as well.

For now, off to work and writing of a different type, programming a web application is not as much fun as writing, but the pay is much better. For some reason, my family seems to want to continue to eat- what's up with that, anyway?

Anticipation is building fast.. what am I going to call this??
I need a title, and a lot more coffee stocked! We're down to the last bag of beans, Horror and shock. That is certainly not going to get anywhere close to 50,000 words written- in fact, if I can make my planning of 2000 wpd, that bag will barely see me through the first 7,500(approximately, it MAY make it to 7590). But, I doubt it! :) Which reminds me to adjust the planned wpd to account for that weekend, hmm. I better figure on perhaps 2/3 productivity, and anything short of that will really suck. Oh well, part of RL impacting nano, can't be helped- but maybe it's going to be even more productive than at home? Maybe? Please?

We pulled the boat out of the water today, and I'm making reservations to fly west so we can have the burial of mom's cremains- remind me sometime to tell *that* story, but not yet. A little too soon for that, at least so far.

However, it reminds me of something that's been bugging me for a month, since the first time I heard the funeral director use the term- "cremains". What a horrible word! I don't know why, it simply makes me shudder. I mean, really- "remains", "ashes", "the urn", whatever. Somehow though, "cremains" just grates on me, I literally have to force myself not to cringe and grimace when I hear it.

Have a happy Monday, for on Tuesday the insanity begins! :D

    NaNoWriMo anticipation
I'm really really getting psyched for November. I did get partway through in '03, to about 22K words when real life reared it's head and put a stop to my literary efforts. That's ok, they weren't all that good anyway, but isn't that the point of NaNo?

I'm not 100% sure what genre this years work will end up in, it's coming to mind as a thriller/mystery, but there are definite overtones of romance too, so I'll just have to see what the characters get up to, and then decide. Of course, that's the title as well: "I have no idea", lol

This is the first time I've tried using a blogging/journal site, I maintain several websites for my family and some nonprofits as well as my work, but I wanted to try something new, where my only concern will be the content and not the coding. Another case of seeing how things go as I go along, huh? Seems to be a lot of that in my life right now, but that's ok.

    Current Mood: excited
